Climate Obs Division/NOAA opening
We are looking to hire a program manager in the Climate Observations
program. The following vacancy announcement will be found on USAJOBS

Oceanographer in the Climate Observation Division. The Climate Program
Office in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
seeks an oceanographer to help manage the sustained global climate
observing systems.
The incumbent will support the Climate Program's work of building and
sustaining global climate observing systems for the ocean that serve the
long-term observational requirements of forecast and modeling centers,
international research programs, major scientific assessments, and
decision-makers. The successful candidate will provide scientific and
programmatic advice to the Climate Observation Division; maintain and
advance collaboration with the national and international scientific
community leading to development of observational needs and
requirements, implementation plans, and development of critical program
activities for ocean and climate observation systems; manage activities
leading to development and implementation of sustainable global climate
observing systems for the ocean, including monitoring strategies,
observing system performance measures, system monitoring reports and
products, data management, and ocean information products; propose,
defend and manage the program budget, administer financial awards, and
monitor project performance; author scientific and technical papers and
posters describing the global climate observing system; and track and
report observing system statistics and metrics, support deployment
opportunities to optimize global coverage, coordinate with JCOMM and
other groups to make this information available for the benefit of the
system, and communicate program progress and achievements to a broad
audience.
The successful candidate will possess experience with ocean observing
systems and instruments, and have experience in project or program
management. Experience in providing scientific and technical guidance on
ocean and research observations is considered highly desirable.
