NASA soliciting ideas for coordinated field programs
Dear OCB Community,
Dr. Paula Bontempi of the NASA Ocean Biology and Biogeochemistry Program
is currently soliciting ideas for coordinated field and modeling
programs to be discussed at the NASA Joint Science Workshop/Ocean Color
Research Team Meeting in late April. The plan is to line up a series of
white papers for the next 10 years of field campaign work (every other
year) along with a modeling component. Ideas chosen to go forward for
2008 will then be drafted into white papers by the end of June, and
there will be time to discuss the white papers at the OCB annual meeting
in July. Funding for these field/modeling campaigns is expected at the
level of $3.5 million/year. Ideas involving the high latitude Arctic are
especially encouraged.
To ensure that OCB’s research priorities are adequately represented in
this solicitation, Paula has requested that the OCB Project Office
encourage input from the broader community. The OCB Project Office will
coordinate any OCB-relevant field/modeling campaign submissions. Please
send your ideas to Heather Benway (hbenway@whoi.edu) by APRIL 25, 2008.
Questions regarding the appropriateness of your ideas to NASA’s
scientific objectives may be directed to Paula Bontempi at
paula.s.bontempi@nasa.gov.
Best regards,
The OCB Project Office
Scott Doney, Heather Benway, and Mary Zawoysky
