Join us for a one-day virtual symposium to celebrate 20 years of OCB science, community and connection. This 20th anniversary symposium will feature the following four  topics, which have seen a lot of growth in OCB, particularly in the last decade:

• Air-Sea Interactions 
• Biological Carbon Pump
• Ocean Carbon Removal
• Ocean Metabolism (featuring programmatic developments across GEOTRACES, OCB, and the newly emerging BioGeoSCAPES)

The symposium will highlight scientific discoveries, game-changing technologies, and lessons learned from the perspective of OCB community members.

Session titles, speakers and panelists will be announced soon. A more detailed agenda will be made available closer to the symposium. 

The November 18 event will start at 11 am (Eastern Standard Time) and run ~7 hours with breaks distributed throughout the day. As with all of our events, the symposium will be recorded and posted on the OCB YouTube channel.

Following on the successes of the virtual OCB2025 watch parties, we encourage you to create local gatherings and watch parties where you are on November 18 or anytime during that week to build connections with other OCBers in your region. These could take the form of walks/hikes, coffee, dinner, etc. Please submit your event idea, and view those already in the works. Be sure to provide enough detailed information (addresses, times, etc.) to ensure people can find one another.
