Joint workshop with SCOR and SOLAS: 7th DMS(P) Symposium: Sulfur - Carbon Nexus in the SOLAS Sphere

The organosulfur compound dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) ignited an entire subfield of biogeochemistry to investigate the precursor of the “anti-greenhouse gas” dimethylsulfide (DMS). Since then, decades of research have unveiled the importance of DMS(P), and related compounds, to carbon cycling and air-sea interactions, and ultimately an outsized contribution to global climate. This Symposium will bring together a diversity of researchers interested in synthesizing the inextricable link of the sulfur and carbon cycles from cellular to global scale processes. OCB will provide partial support for this workshop, to be held at the Bigelow Laboratory later this year in partnership with Schmidt Sciences: Climate, SOLAS, and SCOR.

This will be the first DMS(P) Symposium gathering since the 6th Symposium, held in Barcelona, Spain, in 2014!

Lodging - make your reservation by July 31

We have 4 properties that guests can choose from (Boothbay Harbor Inn, Boothbay Harbor Oceanside Inn, Fisherman's Wharf Inn, and Tugboat Inn). Nightly rates at each property will be $229.99 plus tax on the night of October 11th and $189.99 per night plus tax during the time frame of October 12th to October 16th (Total of 5 nights). There will be a maximum of 15 rooms available per property. If one property should reach that maximum, we will divert to the next available property. Guests need to call the hotel directly, and when they identify themselves with the Bigelow group, they will be quoted the special rate. Rooms will be assigned by the hotel based on one bed or two, and first or second level. Most rooms will have a partial view and some type of deck or patio.
