The sulfur and carbon cycles are inextricably linked in the ocean. The organosulfur compound dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) ignited an entire subfield of biogeochemistry to investigate the precursor of the “anti-greenhouse gas” dimethylsulfide (DMS). The DMS(P) research community made important and early contributions to our understanding of the ocean’s carbon cycle by quantifying DMS(P)’s input to the organic carbon cycle and the organisms harboring the enzymes responsible. OCB is providing partial support for this workshop in partnership with SOLAS and SCOR.
Travel days are October 11 and October 16. The workshop will be 4 full days.

We have 4 properties that guests can choose from (Boothbay Harbor Inn, Boothbay Harbor Oceanside Inn, Fisherman's Wharf Inn, and Tugboat Inn). Nightly rates at each property will be $229.99 plus tax on the night of October 11th and $189.99 per night plus tax during the time frame of October 12th to October 16th (Total of 5 nights). There will be a maximum of 15 rooms available per property. If one property should reach that maximum, we will divert to the next available property. Guests need to call the hotel directly, and when they identify themselves with the Bigelow group, they will be quoted the special rate. Rooms will be assigned by the hotel based on one bed or two, and first or second level. Most rooms will have a partial view and some type of deck or patio.
